Toast, a review for Aldi’s gluten free white bread.

Yes I am actually reviewing bread. I know some of you out there are going really? Bread??

If you have ever had gluten free bread you will get it. First, a couple of disclaimers.I don’t like Udi’s gluten free bread, not just because of their quality issues but because the flavor is awful too and the texture leaves a gritty feeling in my mouth.

Second, I went through half a bag before writing a review (why there are no pictures of mine of the packaging)

Aldi's Gluten free white bread

Aldi’s Gluten free white bread

This is Aldi’s Gluten free white bread. It comes in a 12 oz bag stated it is gluten free, dairy free, nut free, soy free and wheat free.  The label says it has 130 calories per serving (2 slices) 0 sat fat 280 mg of sodium and 2 g sugar. Ingredients- Water, Gluten free flour blend (modified tapioca starch, potato starch, rice flour, corn starch), sunflower oil, sugar, psyllium husk, yeast, egg white, cultured dextrose, cellulose gum. Contains: eggs, sugar.

Now that the formal stuff is out of the way.

Plainly, I like it. I would eat it all the ways, toast, grilled cheese, as a sandwich (it doesn’t need to be toasted unless it is more than 4-5 days old). The size is very close to a conventional sandwich bread, instead of being the size of a credit card (like Schwan’s gluten free bread). The flavor and texture, are both excellent but is better lightly toasted.

This is my go to for grilled cheese, toast and sandwich’s. Oh and it is really awesome with nutella, but what isn’t?

Lightly toasted and ready to add your own topping.

Note the size that is a breakfast plate. This loaf is roughly 4 inches by 3.5 inches (10 cm but 9 cm).

Best of all no real holes some texture but it is nothing like the 1/4 loaf some companies (cough udi’s) sell.

Lightly toasted showing the interior texture.

The texture is light and when very fresh fluffy (note I sacrificed some of my toast and tore it in half so you could see this)

One with butter one with nutella

That’s okay the nutella made up for the toast mangling.

Nutella and minion holding a banana because that is just how I roll.

In short, if you don’t want to make bread yourself and you need to eat gluten free I highly recommend this product!

Not only is it tasty but it is cheaper and better than most any gluten free pre-made sandwich bread I have had. It compares with Genius bread (though this one wins price wise) and is much better than Udi’s or Rudy!

I give this product a 9 out of 10!
